Geir Samuelsen, Director General of Norwegian Accreditation (NA) and EA Vice-Chair, will be the next IAF Director Representing High-Income Economies.
Since 2010, Thomas Facklam, the EA Chair, has been holding the position of IAF Director representing Accreditation Body Members in economies designated by the World Bank as being “high income”. Because his second three-year term is to conclude at the IAF General Assembly meeting held from 20 October to 6 November 2015 in Milan, IAF according to their bylaws needed to seek nominations for a new IAF Director Representing High Income Economies. A call for nominations was then sent on 3 March 2015. Since IAF received two nominations for the position, an electronic election took place until 11 May.
On 13 May 2015, the IAF Secretary, Elva Nilsen, informed IAF Members that Geir Samuelsen was the successful candidate to take up the position of IAF Director of High Income Economies during the next three years 2016-2018.
EA is pleased to congratulate its vice-chair, which will thus succeed its chair as a member of the IAF Executive Committee and Board of Directors.
