The JRC is currently developing a European quality assurance scheme for breast cancer services underpinned by Regulation (EC) 765/2008 on accreditation, and to which EA is actively contributing through a working group led by ACCREDIA, the Italian national accreditation body (NAB), since 2014.
EA is pleased to draw your attention to the latest releases by ECIBC – European Commission Initiative on Breast Cancer:
On the ECIBC website, an interactive European map is now published to highlight ECIBC-related data for the 35 participating countries. Each Country profile shows breast cancer data, organisation of care, and engagement in ECIBC. The profiles will be updated as new data emerge. They will be soon translated to the official languages of their respective countries, of which you will be notified by an e-mail written in your language.
In addition, the ECIBC Concept Document has been updated and is now published. The document describes ECIBC’s background, general goal, specific objectives and expected benefits and includes information on on-going activities.
By improving the quality of breast cancer services in Europe, ECIBC aims at contributing to reduce the burden of cancer and at decreasing the avoidable differences in breast cancer incidence, prevalence, mortality and survival.
