EA held a MAC Refresher Training for Team Members authorized in Testing (EN ISO/IEC 17025), Medical Examinations (EN ISO 15189), and Proficiency Testing Providers (EN ISO/IEC 17043) on 22-23 November 2023 in Brussels (Belgium).
EA is regularly organizing Refresher training sessions for peer evaluators, to improve the performance and harmonisation of work. This includes that EA evaluators are informed about new requirements, changes in peer evaluation procedures, and areas for improvement, and share their experience among peers.
21 participants from 18 National Accreditation Bodies (NABs) participated in the training led by Nicole Meuree Vanlaethem (BELAC, the Belgian NAB), Martina Bednarova (CAI, the Czech Republic NAB), Tuija Sinervo (FINAS, the Finnish NAB), and Daniela Ionescu, the EA MAC Secretary.
General topics related to the peer-evaluation process were covered (as part of their obligation when peer evaluators):
- application of the requirements set out in EA 2/02 S3 Risk-based approach for the planning of a peer evaluation;
- general topics from EN ISO/IEC 17011;
- and practical aspects of the peer-evaluation process.
These Refresher and train-the-trainer training sessions are essential to the strength of the EA MLA system. It offers a platform for EA peer evaluators to openly discuss any questions that could have risen during peer evaluators, as well as an opportunity to improve the harmonisation of evaluators’ work and views of specific issues in the implementation of the peer-evaluation process in the field of Testing, Medical Examinations and Proficiency Testing Providers. Participants were pleased by the quality of the session, and the possibility to send their questions before the meeting.
