Emanuele Riva, Director of Certification and Inspection Department in ACCREDIA, the Italian NAB, has been the successful candidate to take up the position of IAF Vice-Chair during the next three years 2016-2018.

Further to the EA Vice-Chair’s, Geir Samuelsen, being elected the next IAF Director Representing High-Income Economies (see our previous news) and Norman Brunner’s, Director of Akkreditierung Austria (AA), being nominated the next IAF MLA Committee Chair (see our previous news), another EA person will reinforce EA’s role in the IAF Executive Committee as from 2016.

On 7 April 2015, the ballot for IAF Vice-Chair position resulted in the election of Emanuele Riva, who has been working in ACCREDIA since 2003 and running its Certification and Inspection Department since July 2013.

Emanuele Riva is well known for his active participation in the EA Certification Committee (CC), to which he has been contributing as the ACCREDIA representative since the February 2008 meeting in Athens. Before that, Emanuele had been part of the EA Laboratory Committee’s Working Group Healthcare since 2003. He also successfully attended the training course for EA peer-evaluators in September 2009; since then, he is taking part in many peer-evaluations of EA Members.

Moreover Emanuele Riva is the ACCREDIA representative in several ISO and IAF technical committees, being a most involved member or convener of various international task forces and working groups. For instance, respectively, since 2012 and 2014, he has been engaging in ISO CASCO WG 21 and WG 42 dedicated to the revisions of ISO/IEC 17021 and ISO/IEC 17011.

The whole EA community, and especially his colleagues in the EA CC, are most pleased with this new election in IAF and warmly congratulate Emanuele Riva, wishing him a fruitful term as the IAF Vice-Chair.
