Entitled Industry Meets Science, the 17th biennial International Congress of Metrology, CIM 2015, will be held from 21 to 24 September 2015 in Paris. EA has been invited by the Event Organization Committee Chair, Pierre Claudel, to participate in the event together with other international and European bodies such as the International Organization of Legal Metrology (OIML), the International Bureau for Weights and Measures (BIPM) and EURAMET.

The CIM 2015 event will allow a diversified audience of more than 1000 specialists from 50 different countries, 70% of which coming from the industry sector, to explore the most recent developments in measurement techniques and their application for industry, as well as realize the added value of measurement as a quality assurance and improvement function for products, industrial processes and risk management.

This crossroads between industry and science propose to explore industrial challenges in the field of measurement through a varied programme including talks and round tables sessions, an exhibition of technological innovations and solutions, and technical visits exploring industrial best practices.

The CIM 2015 will focus on:
– control of measurement, analysis and testing processes;
– physical & chemical measurements;
– regulation, legal metrology, international recognition;
– new metrology and new sectors.

In 2015, the industrial round tables will be dedicated to the following themes:
– metrology for the future;
– ISO 9001:2015 requirements;
– safety and metrology in food industry;
– metrology outsourcing;
– soft metrology;
– nanotechnologies;
– metrology in pharmaceutical and biological environment.

Further to the great success of EA’s contribution to the 2009 CIM event, Andreas Steinhorst, the EA Executive Secretary, has accepted that EA reiterates its participation in order to highlight the accreditation part in the calibration and other conformity assessment fields as well as to promote the benefits of accreditation in such a broad international showroom. The EA Secretariat, which is represented in the Event Organization Committee, is contributing to the event promotion campaign. An EA representative will also participate in the round table dedicated to safety and metrology in food
industry.
