EA LC WG Health Care December meeting

The EA LC Working Group (WG) Health Care met in Thessaloniki, Greece, on 3-4 December.

During the meeting, several items were presented and discussed:

  • Certain requirements of EN ISO 15189:2022 Medical laboratories — Requirements for quality and competence, such as service agreements, communication of residual risk to users as appropriate, patient consent, continuity and emergency preparedness planning, and traceability to genetic reference sequences;
  • The use of Artificial Intelligence in medical laboratories;
  • The assessment of genetic examinations using Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) techniques, with a particular focus on the bioinformatics aspects, in relation to the new guidance document, EA-4/24 Guideline for the Accreditation of Laboratories carrying out Genetic Testing using Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) Techniques.

More than 30 representatives of EA National Accreditation Bodies (NABs) and Stakeholders attended the meeting hosted by ESYD, the Greek NAB.
