For peer evaluations, EA mandates Team Leaders (TL) and Deputy Team Leaders (DTL) with significant qualifications and experience as peer evaluators.
The Team Leaders and Deputy Team Leaders attend refresher training programs on a frequent and regular basis. Every two years, EA organizes a refresher training session for its Team Leaders and Deputy Team Leaders, enabling the peer evaluators to harmonize and improve their practices.
The Refresher Training session for TL and DTL was held on the 10th and 11th December 2025, with 20 participants from 15 National Accreditation Bodies (NABs). The HHC Chair Kristina Hallman (SWEDAC, the Swedish NAB, Leopoldo Cortez (IPAC, the Portuguese NAB), Nicole Vanlaethem (BELAC, the Belgian NAB), and Daniela Ionescu (the EA MAC Secretary) led the training.
The purpose of Refresher training sessions, in general, and specifically for TL/DTL, is to exchange experiences, share knowledge, improve practices by learning from one another, and harmonize approaches. It allows participants to ask questions to their peers and clarify any unclear points.
Throughout the two-day refresher, TL and DTL covered the following items:
- Refresher of the tools and documents used for peer evaluations (PE), and MAC decisions with an impact on PE;
- Information provided related to the EA MLA Mark, Global Accreditation Cooperation Incorporated Resolutions, and news about the feedback on the PE process and evaluators’ performance;
- Trainers focused on a few stages from the PE process, which are important for the TL: application review (where the risk approach is applied), preparation of the peer evaluation visit, handling of findings, and final meeting and reporting.
- Group work exercises on application review, findings, and reporting
Trainers and participants enjoyed vivid discussions, working in groups, and sharing their experience and knowledge.
