Workshop on Regulation (EU) 2024/1787 on the reduction of methane emissions in the energy sector

Following the first Workshop on 3 June 2026, EA is organizing a second workshop with the European Commission on Regulation (EU) 2024/1787 on the reduction of methane emissions in the energy sector.

The Regulation (EU) 2024/1787 on the reduction of methane emissions (EUMR) in the energy sector entered into force in August 2024. It aims to reduce methane emissions into the atmosphere, both in the EU and in our global supply chains, and to minimise methane leaks by fossil energy companies operating in the EU.

The EU Methane Regulation includes the accreditation of verifiers and (accordingly) monitoring, reporting, and verification requirements.

During this workshop, the European Commission will provide an update on the legal framework and verification protocol. At the same time, the EA National Accreditation Bodies will present information on the implementation of the EUMR and share their experiences in preparing for verifier accreditation.

The online workshop for EA National Accreditation Bodies will be held on 12 October 2026, 14:00 – 16:00 CEST.
