National law requires the analyses for detection and serotyping of Salmonella to be performed under accreditation. An accredited testing laboratory (A) for ISO/IEC 17025 does analyses for detection of Salmonella and makes use of an external service provider for serotyping of Salmonella.
The analysis for serotyping is not part of the scope of laboratory A. The external service provider is also a testing laboratory (B) accredited for ISO/IEC 17025. Serotyping of Salmonella is an accredited activity on the scope of laboratory B.
CAB A is the contracted party by the client for the combined activity of A and B.
In EA 3/01 it is stated in 5.2.1 that activities covered by the scope of the CAB should claim accreditation on its report/certificate. It also reads in 5.2.1 that in areas where accreditation is mandatory by law (this is the case) accreditation should always be claimed in the report/certificate.
CAB B reports to CAB A. If CAB A does report on the results of CAB B in her own report (so without adding the report of CAB B as a whole to the client), can or shall the CAB A make clear what parts of the activities fall under the accreditation of CAB B in it’s own report?
March 2026
Yes, CAB A shall clearly indicate in its report that the results obtained from CAB B are not covered by its accreditation. CAB A may indicate that these results have been produced under accreditation of CAB B.
The recommended way to be clear on this is to add the report of CAB B to the report of CAB A directly.
